Electrical Storms Took Down Our Servers with Instagram, Netflix, and Pinterist

The past 24 hours have yielded a near zero uptime for LeagueFriend because of a huge electrical storm on the East Coast. LeagueFriend resides on a high-end server structure shared by giant websites and web applications such as Instagram, Netflix, and Pinterest, all of whom experienced the same outage that knocked us offline.

While our services were down for some time, no data was impacted. All of our backup systems functioned just as expected and our server kicked into maintenance mode just as it was instructed to do.

This was a fantastic opportunity to test the security infrastructure we have in place, and it performed with 100% reliability.
